In Camp Recreation

Equipment can be found in the Game Shed next to the Archery Range. Three sets of Corn Hole Boards, Tic-Tac-Toss, and other games including those listed below are available.

 

Gaga Ball

A fast paced version of dodge ball, without having to chase after the ball.

Volleyball

Also great for Badminton

 
 

Horseshoes

One set of pits are located under the old oak tree. Includes a bench for the slow paced pitchers

Hiking

There is about a mile of trails through the woods in camp, including along the creek with access to it.

 

 
 

Orienteering

Try out your map and compass skills with our course built by an Eagle Scout. (currently under redevelopment, ready for Summer 2024)

Archery

You’ll need a certified instructor, but you can also enjoy some archery practice while at Camp.

 

 

Recreation in the greater Hershey area

You don’t have to travel far from Camp to enjoy lots of recreational activities.

Golf

Whether it’s a one of the area’s miniature golf courses, or the Hershey Country Club’s world class greens and fairways, there are a number of golf options around for kids of all ages.

Swimming

Along with the Swatara Creek that offers a few “swimming holes,” there are a couple of swimming pools around to enjoy. The Hershey Rec Center will offer indoor and outdoor pools starting the Summer of 2022. The Hummelstown Swim Club also offers a pool on a day rate.

Fishing

The Swatara Creek offers a few varieties of fish, but the Susquehanna River is where you want to head for bigger action.

Hiking

The Horse-Shoe Trail is a trail that runs from Philadelphia to the Appalachian Trail. It crosses mostly private lands available mostly for horses and hiking (horse+shoe). Biking is available on limited section, but permission may be needed from the land owner. The Trail passes near Camp Catherine.

Biking

There are plenty of back roads to stretch your legs on a road bike. But, the area also offers a few option for mountain bikers. Trails are located behind the Hershey Medical Center, at the Swatara State Park, and in Mount Gretna.

Boating

Cocoa Kayak provides drop off and pick up kayak rentals for multiple locations along the Swatara Creek. Susquehanna Outfitters in Marysville offers kayak and canoe rental for the Susquehanna River. There are also public boat launches located at various spots along the Swatara and the Susquehanna.
