Service Projects

Thank you for your interest in providing a service project to improve Camp Catherine.

As a non profit, most of the structures and amenities at Camp were provided through service projects. Some of the items our guests would love to see are below. This isn’t a full list, but just a starting place for you as we begin the process of working together. Review the items listed, and when you’re ready, you’ll need to reach out to our Projects Coordinator, Heath Donnald.

Some things we’d love to have help with

  1. New Septic Holding Tank to extend the life of the drainage system and make ready for showers
  2. Shower Facilities. We have campers that stay for several days and the one thing they look for is a shower.
  3. Refinishing wooden components around camp
  4. Possibly adding a small cabin as an additional camping option.
  5. Additional outdoor games (ie: ping ping, ladder ball, etc)
  6. Water and Electric service to Adirondacks
  7. Outdoor Lighting in various areas
  8. Rebuilding or replacing various projects around camp

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pick my own Eagle Scout Project?

We certainly would like to hear your ideas. However, the project must fit with your Council’s requirements and our Board’s approval.

What considerations do I need to think about as I plan a service project?

A project should be low to no maintenance after it’s completed. This includes being easy to mow around. Camp is run by volunteers, so adding to the maintenance schedules is discouraged.

Does my project have to be construction related?

Not at all. Even though the expansion of facilities and amenities is an important part of our vision, we are open to other projects. Contact our Projects Coordinator for more information or to discuss your ideas.

Does the Camp supply funding for my project?

Unfortunately, the Derry Township Camping Association is not in a position to supply funding for the project.

How long is your approval process?

The Board of Directors communicates as often as needed. There is no set timeline, but can be as fast as you handle paperwork and respond to questions presented regarding your project.

Do I need to get permits from Derry Township for a project?

It all depends on what is involved. We can provide guidance on that as we review your plan. And if one is needed, we’ll handle the paperwork with the Township to acquire any needed permits.
